Backpackin time!

This is where I'll be for the next three days! yaya

I love this quote because it illustrates how I feel very well:)
"I go to nature to be soothed and healed and to have my senses put in tune once more"

-John Burroughs

My next adventure is backapcking tommorrow in the Uintas! My backpacking class and I will be gone for 3 days and I can't wait! I'm sad I'll miss conference, but I can always watch it online. I still need to get my gear together and figure out what I'm eating! Ahh! The great thing is that I'm not even stressed out about it.

I've been to the Uintas before, but I've never backpakced in them. I'm ready to take in the solace that these moutains offer. I love the peace I feel laying under the pine trees next to the pristine blue water. Backpacking here I come!

First 5k!

I ran my first 5k today! I ran the blue vs. red rivalry run down University Avenue. I was kinda nervous for the race and was putting off leaving home until a half hour before the start. I was dropped off where I thought the race was, but found out very quickly I was in the wrong place. So I darted in front of this yoga shop thinking that people who do yoga are lax and would most definitely give me a ride to the race! I was right. First a big buff man came out, so I vetoed that option. Next this nice lady walked out and was totally willing to give me a ride. Oh and she had a Subaru:)
I arrived 2 minutes before the start of the race! Amy, who runs with me every morning and is an amazing person was there waiting with my number. At this point I was super nervous! I didn't like being rushed. By the time we got in to the starting line we only had 30 SECONDS before the race. Ahhh! It was nerve racking.
The first mile was the hardest, but it flew by. By the second mile my left leg was having major shin splints! It didn't matter though because I was in run mode and just felt like going forever. By the third mile I was surprised it was almost over. It felt fantastic to run! Amy told me stories the whole time while I nodded "a huh" and before I knew it the race was over. We sprinted the last 100 meters to the finish line where loads of people were cheering! It made me incredibly happy! I can't even explain how great it felt to run through the finish line. I want to feel like that all the time.
